Where Have All the Preachers Gone?

Over at The Conventicle, I placed this post on a recent article in the New York Times entitled, "Students Flock to Seminaries, but Fewer See Pulpit in Future." I thought you may be interested. Take this opportunity to "pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers in his harvest" (Lk 10:2).

On Being a Christian Family

One of my favorite preachers and authors is Iain D Campbell (minister of Back Free Church of Scotland on the Isle of Lewis), and he has written this excellent article entitled "On Being a Christian Family" in the latest issue of reformation21 (the online magazine of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals). As usual, his essay is creative, warm, pastoral, and biblical. I’m sure you will profit from it has much as I did.

The Organizational Queen!

Now that I am starting back to work I wanted to get myself organized so that my house, meals, and relationships don't suffer from being busy and working shifts.

So if you feel like the lady at the left in the pink sweats and curlers in her hair FlyLady gives some great advice on how to get your life in order and how to keep your home always at the ready for company! Even as I write this my living room has clothes waiting to be folded and floors needing to be vacuumed and someone at the door!

The web site can be a little difficult to get around in but the Table of Contents page is very helpful! She helps you find a strategy for cleaning up those problem spots in your house and keeping them clean. Gives detailed advice on just about anything to do with the home and keeping it running efficiently. She also gives some suggestions for evacuation planning and moving tips. Flylady also gives some helpful tips for vacation planning and packing tips. It is all about being organized, setting routines, and taking small steps!

It is a great and helpful website. Check it out!

What's for Supper? All Recipes to the Rescue!

When we moved to Scotland I didn't have room to pack any cookbooks and didn't have the time to write down enough recipes. I remembered a web site that a friend used back in Mississippi. You can find a recipe for just about anything.

Here is a link to my new favorite kitchen resource: All Recipes.

It is wonderful! You can create your own recipe box and it will generate a shopping list for every recipe you choose. I only take the 5 star recipes reviewed by over 50 people (that way you know they will be good!). Read the reviews and people will tell you what they thought and the changes that they made. You can find some helpful hints.

Here is a link to my review of an outstanding beef stew recipe!

Here are some other recipes that I have tried and you might enjoy!

Beef Stew
Baked Ziti

Taco Seasoning mix so you don't have to buy the packets anymore!

Ooey Gooey Carmel Rolls

Let me know if you try any of these and what you thought!

Hope you enjoy!
